The End of Days

Are you ready for this...

Introduction

"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." (Matthew 24:36, KJV)

The Bible, particularly the King James Version (KJV), provides a prophetic timeline of events leading to the end of the world, the Second Coming of Christ, and the final judgment. While no man knows the exact day or hour, Scripture outlines key events in a sequence that believers can recognise as the "End of Days."

Following is a narrative timeline based on biblical prophecy, drawing from books such as Daniel, Matthew, Revelation, and the Epistles.

1. The Signs of the Times - Pre-Tribulation Period
Before the end comes, Jesus warned that certain signs would mark the approaching last days:
  • False Christs and Deception"For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many." (Matthew 24:5)
  • Wars and Rumors of Wars"And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet." (Matthew 24:6)
  • Famines, Pestilences, and Earthquakes"And there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places." (Matthew 24:7)
  • Persecution of Believers"Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake." (Matthew 24:9)
  • The Great Apostasy (Falling Away from Faith) – "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first..." (2 Thessalonians 2:3)
  • The Gospel Preached to All Nations"And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." (Matthew 24:14)

These signs indicate that the world is moving toward the final prophetic events.

2. The Rapture of the Church
Before the worst judgments fall upon the earth, the Bible teaches that Christ will return secretly to take His Church (true believers) to heaven:

  • "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)

Christ's people caught up in the Rapture
The Rapture

This event, known as the "Rapture," will happen suddenly, leaving unbelievers behind to face the coming Tribulation.

3. The Rise of the Antichrist - Beginning of the Tribulation
After the Rapture, a world leader known as the Antichrist will rise to power:

  • "And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week..." (Daniel 9:27) – This refers to a seven-year peace treaty with Israel, marking the start of the Tribulation.
  • "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition..." (2 Thessalonians 2:3)

The Antichrist will initially appear as a peacemaker but later reveal his true nature as a tyrant.

4. The Seven-Year Tribulation
The Tribulation is a seven-year period of God’s wrath upon the earth, divided into two halves:

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse
The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse

A. The First 3.5 Years - The Four Horsemen, Seven Seals, and Seven Trumpets Judgment – Revelation 6-11
  1. First Seal (White Horse – False Peace) – "And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer." (Revelation 6:2)
  2. Second Seal (Red Horse – War) – "And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another..." (Revelation 6:4)
  3. Third Seal (Black Horse – Famine) – "And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand." (Revelation 6:5)
  4. Fourth Seal (Pale Horse – Death) – "And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him." (Revelation 6:8)
  5. Fifth Seal (Martyrs Cry Out) – "And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God..." (Revelation 6:9)
  6. Sixth Seal (Cosmic Disturbances) – "And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair..." (Revelation 6:12)
  7. Seventh Seal (Silence, Then Trumpet Judgments Begin) – "And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour." (Revelation 8:1)

The Seven Trumpet Judgments now bring even greater devastation:

  1. First Trumpet (Hail and Fire) – "The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood..." (Revelation 8:7)
  2. Second Trumpet (Sea Turns to Blood) – "And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea..." (Revelation 8:8)
  3. Third Trumpet (Waters Bitter) – "And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp..." (Revelation 8:10)
  4. Fourth Trumpet (Darkened Sun, Moon, Stars) – "And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten..." (Revelation 8:12)
  5. Fifth Trumpet (Locusts from the Abyss) – "And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth..." (Revelation 9:3)
  6. Sixth Trumpet (200 Million Horsemen Kill a Third of Mankind) – "And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand..." (Revelation 9:16)
  7. Seventh Trumpet (Announces Christ’s Coming Reign) – "And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ..." (Revelation 11:15)

B. The Second 3.5 Years - The Great Tribulation - Last 3.5 Years – Revelation 12-18
At the midpoint of the Tribulation, the Antichrist breaks his covenant with Israel and sets himself up as God:

  • And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High..." (Daniel 7:25)
  • "And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads..." (Revelation 13:16)

Mark of the Beast
The Mark of the Beast (666) becomes mandatory for buying and selling. Those who refuse will be persecuted. During this time, God pours out the Seven Bowl Judgments (Revelation 16), the most severe plagues.

The Seven Vial Plagues:
  1. First Vial (Painful Sores) – "And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast..." (Revelation 16:2)
  2. Second Vial (Sea Turns to Blood) – "And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man..." (Revelation 16:3)
  3. Third Vial (Rivers Turn to Blood) – "And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood." (Revelation 16:4)
  4. Fourth Vial (Scorching Heat from the Sun) – "And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire." (Revelation 16:8)
  5. Fifth Vial (Darkness and Pain) – "And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness..." (Revelation 16:10)
  6. Sixth Vial (Euphrates Dried Up, Armies Gather at Armageddon) – "And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up..." (Revelation 16:12)
  7. Seventh Vial (Greatest Earthquake Ever, Cities Fall, Hailstones) – "And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done." (Revelation 16:17)

5. The Second Coming of Christ (Revelation 19)
At the climax of the Tribulation, Jesus returns visibly to earth in power and glory:

  • "And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True..." (Revelation 19:11)
  • "And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean." (Revelation 19:14)

Jesus defeats the Antichrist and his armies at the Battle of Armageddon:
  • "And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet... These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone." (Revelation 19:20)

The Battle of Armageddon
The Battle of Armageddon
"And he gathered them together into a place
called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon"
(Revelation 16:16)

  • "And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs." (Revelation 14:20)

6. The Millennial Kingdom (Revelation 20:1-6)
Christ establishes His 1,000-year reign on earth:

  • "And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them... and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years." (Revelation 20:4)

Satan is bound during this time, and peace prevails.

7. Final Rebellion and Judgment (Revelation 20:7-15)
At the end of the Millennium, Satan is released for a short time, deceives the nations, and is finally cast into the Lake of Fire:

  • "And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone..." (Revelation 20:10)

The Great White Throne
Judgment occurs, where all unbelievers are judged:

  • "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God... and they were judged every man according to their works." (Revelation 20:12)

8. The New Heaven and New Earth (Revelation 21-22)
God creates a new, perfect eternal home for His people:
  • "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away..." (Revelation 21:1)
  • "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain..." (Revelation 21:4)

Are You Ready?

The Bible’s timeline of the End of Days is terrifying, sobering, and hopeful. While the world will face unprecedented suffering, Christ’s return brings ultimate victory for those who trust in Him.

"He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus." (Revelation 22:20)

Appendix - The Second Coming of Christ in the King James Bible (KJV)

The Second Coming of Jesus Christ is one of the most significant prophecies in Scripture. Unlike the Rapture (when Christ comes for His Church), the Second Coming is when He returns with His saints to judge the world, defeat evil, and establish His kingdom on earth.

Following is a detailed description based on the King James Version (KJV).

1. The Manner of His Coming
Jesus will return visibly, suddenly, and gloriously, descending from heaven in power and great majesty.
  • "And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory." (Matthew 24:30)
  • "Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him." (Revelation 1:7)
  • "For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." (Matthew 24:27)

Christ's Second Coming

Unlike the secret Rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17), the Second Coming will be seen by all, including His enemies.

2. The Events at Christ's Coming

A. The Destruction of the Antichrist and False Prophet
At His return, Christ will utterly defeat the Antichrist and his forces:
  • "And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming." (2 Thessalonians 2:8)
  • "And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet... These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone." (Revelation 19:20)

B. The Battle of Armageddon
The nations will gather against Israel, but Christ will destroy them:
  • "And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army." (Revelation 19:19)
  • "And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron..." (Revelation 19:15)

C. The Resurrection of Old Testament and Tribulation Saints
  • "And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt." (Daniel 12:2)
  • And I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus... and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years." (Revelation 20:4)

D. The Binding of Satan
  • "And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years." (Revelation 20:1-2)

3. The Aftermath - Christ’s Millennial Reign
After His return, Jesus will rule the earth in righteousness for 1,000 years (the Millennium):

  • "And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one." (Zechariah 14:9)
  • "And they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more." (Isaiah 2:4)

4. The Final Judgment and Eternal State
After the Millennium, Satan is released briefly, then cast into the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:7-10).

The Final Judgement of God
The Great White Throne Judgment

The Great White Throne Judgment occurs (Revelation 20:11-15), and God creates a new heaven and new earth:
  • "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea." (Revelation 21:1)
  • "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." (Revelation 21:4)

Appendix - The Battle of Armageddon - The Final Conflict in the KJV

The Battle of Armageddon is the climactic war at the end of the Great Tribulation, where the nations of the earth gather against Israel - only to be destroyed by the returning Jesus Christ in power and glory. The King James Bible describes this battle in vivid prophetic language, particularly in Revelation 16, 19, and Zechariah 14.

1. The Gathering of the Nations
Before Christ’s return, the world’s armies assemble in the Valley of Megiddo (Armageddon) for a final rebellion against God:
  • "And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon." (Revelation 16:16)
  • "For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle..." (Zechariah 14:2)

This coalition is led by the Antichrist (the Beast) and the False Prophet, who deceive the kings of the earth into making war against God’s people (Revelation 16:13-14, 19:19).

2. The Return of Christ in Judgment
At the height of the battle, Jesus Christ returns visibly with His heavenly armies to destroy His enemies:
  • "And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war." (Revelation 19:11)
  • "And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron..." (Revelation 19:15)

Unlike the Rapture (which is a rescue of believers), this is a war of divine wrath against the wicked.

3. The Destruction of the Antichrist’s Forces
Christ’s victory is swift and total:
  • And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet... These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone." (Revelation 19:20)
  • And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth..." (Revelation 19:21)

The Battle of Armageddon
Armageddon

Zechariah 14:12 describes a supernatural plague that strikes the enemies of God:
  • And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet..."

4. The Aftermath
Christ’s Millennial Reign After Armageddon, Satan is bound (Revelation 20:1-3), and Jesus establishes His 1,000-year kingdom on earth:
  • "And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one." (Zechariah 14:9)
  • "And they shall beat their swords into plowshares..." (Isaiah 2:4)

Conclusion
The Certainty of God’s Victory
The Battle of Armageddon is not a struggle between equal forces—it is God’s absolute triumph over evil.

Every enemy of Christ will be defeated, and His righteous reign will begin.
"And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done." (Revelation 16:17)

Are you on the Lord’s side?

"He that is not with me is against me..." (Matthew 12:30).

Choose Christ before that great and terrible day!

There you have it... Terrifying...
