At the end of Jan 2025, a peer-reviewed paper detailed more than 81,000 physicians, scientists, researchers and concerned citizens, 240 elected government officials, 17 professional public health and physician organisations, 2 US State Republican Parties, 17 US Republican Party County Committees and six scientific studies from across the world that have called for the withdrawal of covid vaccines from the market.

“We expect that calls for an immediate moratorium on COVID-19 vaccines will continue to increase until a critical mass is reached and the products are finally removed from the market,” the authors noted.

The paper "Review: Calls for Market Removal of COVID-19 Vaccines Intensify as Risks Far Outweigh Theoretical Benefits" was published in Science, Public Health Policy and the Law on 28 January 2025.

Authored by Nicolas Hulscher, Mary T. Bowden and Peter A. McCullough, the researchers reviewed deaths due to COVID-19 vaccines as reported to the US Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System ("VAERS"). They noted that the 37,544 recorded deaths have exceeded the criteria for an FDA Class I recall by up to 375,340%.

In addition to VAERS data, the authors noted that there are "greater than 3,400 peer-reviewed manuscripts in the medical literature concerning fatal and non-fatal COVID-19 vaccine injuries." These include myocarditis, neurologic injury, thrombosis, and immunologic syndromes, which regulatory agencies around the world have recognised as adverse effects of the vaccines.

The paper noted that emerging evidence from diverse global datasets indicates patterns of concerning adverse events and mortality trends associated with COVID-19 vaccination campaigns.

"Due to these significant concerns," the authors wrote, "we reviewed the literature for excess mortality, DNA contamination and negative efficacy associated with COVID-19 vaccines, along with compiling a comprehensive list of all calls for an immediate moratorium."

"Excess mortality, negative efficacy, widespread DNA contamination and a lack of demonstrated reduction in transmission, hospitalisation, or mortality have undermined the rationale for continued administration," the authors noted. "Immediate removal of COVID-19 vaccines from the market is essential to prevent further loss of life and ensure next steps are taken for accountability of the harm incurred."
