Immigration and Woke Ideology Puts English Identity at Risk

Robert Jenrick, the Conservative leadership front-runner, has warned that "English Identity" is under threat from "mass immigration" and the "metropolitan elite."

Jenrick has raised concerns over the effects of a mix of:

  • Unprecedented migration
  • The dismantling of our national culture
  • Non-integrating multiculturalism
  • Denigration of our identity

All of this has resulted in the enormous problems we are seeing today.

He further added that the "Establishment" had denigrated and mocked expressions of "English Identity" while its members seemed happier celebrating other cultures. Jenrick said that Westminster underestimated the depth of anger in the country and warned that it will be impossible to heal our divided nation if we refuse to confront the complex issues about identity now.

He was also concerned about Britain's summer of unrest, which saw riots and anti-immigration protests sweep towns and cities across England and Northern Ireland in the wake of the Southport stabbings. Jenrick said that the riots were the result of "inter-communal violence, radicalisation, and diminishing trust in our communities" coming to a head.

Large Parts of UK Cities are Unrecognisable as being English

This time, the warning comes from The Reform Party leader, Nigel Farage, who says that large sections of British towns and cities no longer "feel distinctly English".

He said he was very concerned that whole areas of towns and cities are unrecognisable as English, but not because of skin colour.

"That's the problem, isn't it?" he said, "That part of who we are is shaped by our history, is shaped by our family experiences. It's shaped by the triumphs and tragedies the country has been through in the last 100 and 150 years. It's part of who we are, and if you finish up with large numbers of people with whom you have nothing in common, well, clearly, it's going to be a very different place and one that's going to struggle to have a proper collective sense of what matters."

According to UK census data from 2021, 16% of the country's population had been born abroad, totalling 10.7 million migrants.

The percentage of people identifying as white British has declined from 87.5% to just 74.4% in 2021. However, Farage said that he was not concerned about this decline in the white British population. Instead, he said, "What is a concern of mine is, in many cases, the lack of integration."
